Founded in 1972, Chesapeake Humane Society is a non-profit organization
that is managed by volunteers and funded by private donors - it does
not receive government subsidies. The Society supports the homeless
animals of Chesapeake in the following ways:

Provides
low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination services
Provides
financial assistance to shelter animals in immediate medical need
Serves
on the Chesapeake Animal Control Advisory Board
Lends countless volunteer hours to enhance the lives of shelter
pets
Runs a media
program that advertises adoptable pets
Hosts off-site adoption events to advertise adoptable pets
Makes an annual financial gift to Chesapeake Animal Control

The Chesapeake Humane Society works to promote the welfare of companion
animals in the community through programs and strategies aimed at improving
responsible pet ownership and reducing the pet population.
