Put your love for animals into action! Volunteer support is vital to the success of our organization and directly impacts the number of animals we are able to serve.


Getting started is easy .... simply browse our list of volunteer opportunities to see what interests you. Then download our volunteer application and either mail it to us or drop it off at our clinic. Mrs. Powell will contact you and help you get started!

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to work with CHS. Children between the ages of 12-15 are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent at all times - we love parent and child teams! Groups of children between the ages of 12-15 can work together if the group has one chaperone per five children. Volunteers may work with adoptable animals at off-site adoption events. Volunteers wishing to spend more hands-on time with adoptable animals must be 18 or older, apply with Chesapeake Animal Control and attend their orientation program.
