This is a high-responsibility position! Volunteers participate in a
strategic planning committee that plans for our flagship fundraiser,
Bark in the Park. Tasks include selling sponsorships,
recruiting pledge walkers, creating ads, coordinating event logistics,
recruiting exhibitors, developing entertainment, etc. Business skills
in the areas of marketing, accounting, advertising, selling, project
management and/or connections to the community are required. This is
a great resume-builder for young professionals! Contact
us for more details!
Help connect adoptable animals with new families! Our MatchMakers showcase
adoptable animals from Chesapeake Animal Control at various locations
to help promote their adoption. MatchMakers enjoy a great deal of hands-on
time with adoptable pets! Responsibilities include setting up and breaking
down displays, interacting with potential adopters, and advocating adoption
and spay/neuter. Off-site events occur twice monthly and volunteers
can participate on their own schedule.
Party Animals help with community events, such as the Chesapeake Jubilee,
the Critter Cruise, raffle ticket sales, etc. Tasks may include distributing
promotional materials, taking pictures during events, performing event
setup and clean up, selling tickets, and manning our educational/adoption
tables. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who prefer to provide
intermittent help.
Come take care of the kitties at Chesapeake Humane! Our kitty keepers
are responsible for providing full service care to 6-8 cats. Volunteers
may select either the Saturday or Sunday morning or evening shifts,
and each shift takes about 2 hours to complete. These shifts require
a once weekly commitment or a rotating commitment every other week.

Help us earn $6,000 a year! Bingo volunteers assist with Bingo games
that occur every Monday from 5pm-10:30pm at the Virginia
Beach Bingo Hall. A once-monthly commitment is preferred.

Set your own schedule! Pet Banks have been placed at area businesses
and the funds raised need to be collected monthly. Volunteers are assigned
a set route and can visit their assigned businesses on their own schedule.
Our Photographers are our artists! Opportunities include taking Petfinder.com
pictures (which entails animal handling and volunteer training through
Chesapeake
Animal Contol), assisting with Santa Photos taken at the holidays,
and photographing other community events. Experience in digital phototography
is required ... and lots of patience is required, too!

Administrative volunteers are an essential part of our volunteer team!
There is a wide range of opportunities at the Spay/Neuter clinic, including
checking in spay/neuter patients (early morning) and assisting clients
during vaccine clinics (lunch time). For those who would like to volunteer
on their own schedule, opportunities include doing laundry, cleaning,
helping with mail, filing and performing other general paperwork.
